The opportunity
ASIO uses a human-led, data-driven, technology-enabled approach to understand and respond to threats.

To ensure ASIO remains ahead of Australia's adversaries, ASIO continues to implement the government's $1.25 billion investment in our most sensitive capabilities.
As a senior technology leader, you will be responsible for ensuring outcomes from this investment, to provide the security assurance Australians expect.
We are looking for highly-skilled, committed, and experienced professionals to lead ASIO's technology and data capabilities – capabilities which empower everything we do.
We're looking for a leader who can inspire our staff to do things our adversaries believe are impossible.
In this role, you will work closely with your team and the Senior Executive across capability and mission areas to deliver outcomes consistent with the Organisation's practices and values.
As a senior technical leader in the Organisation, you will be responsible for leading the continued investment in the development of ASIO staff to deliver world-class operational activity against our toughest adversaries.

Key attributes

Ability to lead and inspire multi-disciplined, diverse, and geographically dispersed teams to innovate, develop, and deploy technology solutions in an intelligence or security context.
Exceptional communication skills to drive your team and deliver against mission-critical outcomes.
Formal qualifications in a relevant technical field preferably at post-graduate level.
Proven ability to deliver results in a dynamic, high-pressure, and challenging environment, and engage with risk.
Ability to establish strategic partnerships, leverage industry relationships, and engage with customers and stakeholders to make decisions in the best interests of ASIO.
Understanding of the legal framework that governs ASIO operations, the security culture, and rigor required.
Ability to lead technology and data capabilities, empowering whole of enterprise business and operational outcomes.
Ability to lead adoption of cloud technologies.
Demonstrated leadership within program, project, and product approaches.
A merit pool may be created to fill future vacancies which have the same or similar requirements to this position.
This merit pool will be valid for up to 18 months.What we offer you

Location
These positions are located in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Adelaide.

Employment conditions
Employment is under the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Act 1979.
Conditions of service are similar to those applying in the Australian Public Service.
We recognize entitlements accrued under the Public Service Act 1999 and provide for the continuation of superannuation under the Commonwealth schemes.
Salary packaging arrangements are also available.
