AFP Intelligence Operations is one of many functions delivering specialist capabilities to the broad remit of the AFP.

AFP Intelligence Operations is one of many functions delivering specialist capabilities to the broad remit of the AFP.
It is integral to AFP criminal investigations; in Australia and abroad.
Intelligence Managers lead and manage the delivery of intelligence capabilities to inform AFP tactical, operational and strategic direction.
Intelligence Managers must possess strong leadership and people management skills, as well as a sound understanding of intelligence practice, processes, skillsets and framework or covert collection practices, legislation, policy and practice.
You will work under the strategic direction of Intelligence Operations Executive Team and will be responsible for the leadership and management of a number of teams to deliver outcomes.
You require in depth knowledge and understanding of the AFP business and the impact of roles and functions undertaken in relation to the organisation's reputation to effectively manage operations.
As an Intelligence Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading and developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual.
You will be responsible for leading and managing a team dedicated to delivering a business function to the AFP.
The role has both a practical and strategic focus requiring the application of sound business principles in the management of resources to meet AFP outputs in the most effective and efficient manner.
Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporatebusiness plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on thecore responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
What will you do?
Lead, manage and direct the operation of a number of intelligence teams while supporting the AFP Senior Executive in the delivery of strategic initiatives.
Develop plans and ensure all resources are effectively directed at achieving business area outputs.
Develop the Intelligence Operations workforce and fulfill a guiding, mentoring and advisory role.
Provide accurate, timely and impartial operational and strategic intelligence reporting to the AFP Executive.
Build an operating environment that fosters the intelligence capability to triage, assess and analyse.
Maintain excellent contemporary knowledge of intelligence legislation, practice and policy.
Manage and develop relevant governance and policy in accordance with a sound understanding of legislative compliance and enterprise priorities.
Work closely with AFP Commands, other specialist capabilities, and external partners to effectively deliver enterprise outcomes.
Represent the AFP in relevant subject matter forums while maintaining and developing collaborative working relationships.
Manage the requirements and recommendations of related oversight functions as well as engagement with oversight bodies.
Apply the AFP Performance Management Framework.
Record and maintain information in accordance with AFP requirements.
Have exceptional attention to detail and well developed written and oral communication.
You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
A Negative Vetting 2 security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Proven leadership-experience including an ability to build and support high performing teams.
Demonstrated high level of integrity and accountability, and ability to work in a high security environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead personnel and develop productive working relationships.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external partners.
Technical knowledge and skills (applicable to the role).
Essential Requirements You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:A PV Security clearance or ability to obtain one.
Experience in leading intelligence professionals.

This role attracts a composite allowance in recognition of expanded working hours, normal patterns ofattendance and shift patterns (such as afternoon shifts, weekends and Designated Public Holidays) that arerequired under the Operations working pattern.
In accordance with the AFP Enterprise Agreement 2017- 2020, an employee who is required to work in accordance with the Operations working pattern will receive aCore Composite of 22% in addition to their base salary, which will count as salary for superannuation.
The Commissioner has the authority to remove a composite from a role.
Proof of a minimum of two COVID-19 vaccinations (or one dose if the Janssen vaccine was used) will be required if an offer of employment is made.
