Deputy Director Navy Workforce Transformation and Reform The key duties of the position include: The Role
The Deputy Director Navy Workforce Transformation and Reform will be responsible for leading strategic workforce initiatives to support the Navy Employment Category Development (NECD) branch. The role will oversee a small team and manage various projects and/or programs, be accountable for developing additional workforce strategies, and liaise with key stakeholders and sponsors both inside and outside of the branch to ensure strategic initiatives are set up for success.
The role will initially be required to support the implementation of the Navy Workforce Transformation Campaign Plan until the end of 2025. The Campaign Plan is Navy's response to the National Defence Strategy (NDS) and the workforce changes that need to occur to support strategic intent. The role will work in close collaboration with the Director and may be required to provide additional support to the other Deputy Directors in the team and/or the Navy Commanders. The role may also be required to act as Director as needed.
About our Team
The role sits within the Directorate of Navy Employment Category Transformation and Reform (DNECTR), a small and agile workforce planning and design team that prides itself on disrupting the status quo.
To date, the team has architected and designed a number of workforce transformation activities and partnered with stakeholders to implement changes into workforce-in-being systems and processes. The team seeks an innovative and creative individual that has a Strategic HR background, change management experience and strong communication skills to contribute to future transformation and reform activities.
The team primarily works within Navy, but there is potential for increased collaboration with Air Force, Army, other Domain leads and Defence Groups.
The role will be predominately based in Canberra, with flexible working arrangements available. There may also be opportunities to travel pending project requirements and operating environment.

They will enjoy learning about the people and the environment the Directorate supports within Navy. They may have experience in delivering strategic HR interventions and projects, designing change management and communication products, and have previous consulting experience.
Our ideal candidate will be able to support the delivery of Directorate initiatives and projects by managing change and transformation projects, running change workshops, engaging with senior stakeholders and proposing new ideas.
They will be expected to support multiple projects, while enabling the team to deliver Directorate and Branch outcomes. They will be committed to learning and accessing creative and more efficient ways of working.
