OAIC's Regulatory Intelligence & Strategy (RIS) Branch is seeking an Executive Level 1 (EL1) Assistant Director, Data Analytics specialist to generate reports and develop visualisations to support OAIC's regulatory strategy and decision-making.
You will be a member of OAIC's Regulatory Intelligence team. This team is responsible for collecting and analysing data and intelligence to support OAIC's regulatory decision making and operations.
You will be responsible for data analysis and reporting for the OAIC. You will manage and work as part of a small team and liaise with colleagues at all levels across the OAIC, including Commissioners, to help the agency make strategic use of data.
The key duties of the position include: Leading the implementation of the OAIC's data strategy, promoting data literacy and proactively using data for evidence-based decision making within the OAIC. Management of a small team to gather data requirements, to create and maintain data reports, dashboards and briefs. Leading analytical projects, providing data to support decision making and meet OAIC's reporting requirements. Work with other areas of the OAIC to ensure intelligence and reporting capabilities are considered in the design and maintenance of systems. Deliver projects to uplift data quality and reporting processes. Bridge business needs and data insights through an understanding of OAIC's organisation, processes, and priorities. We are seeking applications from candidates who possess: Expertise in data analytics and visualisation. Experience with Power BI, SQL, Power Query and writing advanced DAX measures are highly regarded. The ability to manage a small team and a self-directed work program, including project management experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to draw insights from data. Good stakeholder engagement skills and an ability to collaborate with colleagues with a diverse range of backgrounds. Enthusiasm for the work of the OAIC and a desire to make a difference. These duties are to be performed in accordance with the APS Code of Conduct and APS Values and Office policies, including Workplace Diversity and Work Health and Safety. Under section 25 of the Public Service Act 1999 the Office may re-assign the duties of an employee from time to time.
The OAIC operates a hybrid work model with a combination of remote working and office attendance. Whilst the OAIC office is located in the Sydney CBD, we will consider candidate applications from all other locations within Australia. The OAIC values face-to-face interaction and fostering connection between our people and with our stakeholders. The OAIC's hybrid work model expects in office attendance when the type of work or task is better suited to being completed from an office, for example, staff inductions and onboarding, planning days, relationship building activities and project or collaborative work.
