The key duties of the position include: The Role
The Directorate of Military Remuneration has multiple EL1 positions available where you will perform a broad range of duties relating to Industrial Relations for the ADF including leading a team responsible for developing pay and employment category proposals, and preparing detailed evidential papers suitable for Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal consideration.
The EL1 Workplace Relations Manager will have experience in, or aptitude to quickly acquire a working knowledge of ADF Industrial Relations, and experience in some or all areas relating to:
Conducting ADF remuneration activities with significant independence.
Coordinating and performing detailed or sensitive ADF remuneration projects aligning to strategic, political or operational outcomes for Defence.
Converting data and information into valuable reports and/or advice.
Fostering effective relationships across Defence People Group, other services, groups and Government Agencies.
Providing policy advice and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve outcomes within agreed timeframes, often with rapidly changing priorities preparing correspondence, submissions, decision briefs and reports to stakeholders within timeframes and business requirements.
Candidates for this position will be considered and assessed against the key selection criteria, APS Work Level Standards and level of experience.
About our Team
The Directorate of Military Remuneration (DMR) is within People Policy and Employment Conditions (PPEC) branch.
PPEC is responsible for developing and implementing policies on pay and employment conditions for ADF members and APS employees.
DMR is primarily responsible for developing and managing ADF remuneration cases for consideration by the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal (DFRT).
In addition, DMR manages policy in relation to complex military remuneration matters regarding ADF salaries, allowances and superannuation.

The successful candidates will be conscientious, and have a demonstrated ability to work collegiately within a large network of uniformed and non-uniformed personnel, from working level through to Senior Executive.
They will be responsive to changing circumstances and possess excellent administration, time management, and communication skills.
They will display initiative, have a strong attention to detail, and be committed to providing consistent, high-quality support, as well as:
Achieving complex to very complex ADF industrial relations outcomes for joint and integrated ADF workforces in accordance with strategic requirements.
Developing and providing evidence-based policy solutions including both verbal and written recommendations on conditions of service; Representing the Branch or Service at both internal and external forums with a range of stakeholders, encouraging a collaborative approach to achieving sustainable remuneration outcomes for ADF members; Preparing high level committee papers, ministerial correspondence and advice for senior leadership; Requesting the drafting of legislative determinations; Supporting governance structures, knowledge management and decision-making processes; Developing and managing project plans, including evaluation reporting; Leading a small team of both APS and ADF members.
