Ocean Dream Charters operates a luxurious 26-metre catamaran and 3 x 5.6m aluminium tender boats for remote overnight extended Kimberley cruises in Western Australia, for up to 12 guests.
About the role
The engineer plays an essential role in the safe and efficient operation of our vessel.
This role is responsible for all the mechanical and electrical equipment on board while providing a high level of guest service, including daily guiding on excursions.
Good verbal and written communication are required to maintain the vessel and easily interact with guests, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times.

Our positions are seasonal casual with the potential for ongoing work after the Kimberley season.
We have a great long-term team cruising the Kimberley, Rowley Shoals, and Montebello Islands in 2025.
Candidates will be experienced with:
engineering and problem-solving skills repairs and maintenance watchkeeping The vessel Engineer is responsible for the following:
Perform daily engine and machinery checks on assigned vessels Planned maintenance and services to manufacturers specifications Maintain and run the desalination plant as per manufacturers specifications Maintain the following vessel systems: anchor system grey water and sewage system refrigeration and air conditioning systems bilge system raw water systems firefighting system and fire extinguishers Assist master with all vessel survey and safety equipment requirements The testing of all mechanical safety devices where fitted Bunkering of fuel and oil as required Assist Master with the management and safe operations of the vessel Diagnose system problems when they occur Ensure all maintenance requirements and ramifications are recorded Coordinate and maintain effective vessel preventative maintenance programs Accurately maintain logs and work orders through to job completion and sign off Assist with securing vessels at the various marinas and wharfs Be involved in safety drill practices as required by the Master Maintain and repair faults in guest cabins with urgency General cosmetic maintenance and repair to vessel interior and exterior as required Assist the Master with vessel watch-keeping duties on the bridge when the vessel is underway Assist with helicopter operations Vessel crane operations Vessel pre-departure checks, as detailed in the SMS Assist with guest experience duties, including meeting and greeting guests and guiding daily activities, fishing and excursion briefing and educational talks Assist with deckhand duties as required Assist with planning of refit works Ensure that all work complies with company policy and procedure, including OH&S and any legislative requirements and guidelines are always adhered to Ensure relevant procedures and checklists are maintained and consistently implemented Ensure our guests are always provided the highest level of professional service and that the comfort and safety of all persons aboard are priority Applicants must be fit, able to access all areas of the vessels and willing to engage in all necessary project tasks.
