Fuel Capability Branch (FCB) is seeking a suitably experienced individual to undertake a range of activities to develop and implement assurance programs. This role will work with the FCB engineering, operations, supply and business directorates; and stakeholders to ensure quality outcomes.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Conduct audit programs and processes to provide assurance that risks facing Defence Fuel Supply Chain are addressed and managed. Contribute to the development of audit strategies and tools. Analyse evidence, identify audit findings, develop recommendations and reports, which address the causes and consequences of identified issues and risk. Liaise, negotiate and engage professionally with stakeholders in order to obtain information, determine appropriate course of action for complex audit activities and provide a clear understanding of auditing standards, policies, strategies. These roles require frequent travel and co-ordination of activities with colleagues working remotely.
About our Team
Our team within the Directorate of National Operations is a key enabler providing assurance for CJLOG of the Defence Fuel Supply Chain (DFSC). Our team develops and implements the DFSC Assurance Framework and programs to ensure the integrity of the DFSC to support its vision of 0:1:100 (Zero loss incidents and injuries, one safe, integrated, efficient and effective network; and 100% Petroleum, Oils and lubricants deliveries in full and on time and to specification).
We are an integrated team working in a changing environment as the DFSC transitions to a contractor services model. Our team implements a four-tiered model of assurance within an integrated governance risk and assurance framework to test the Defence Fuel Management System across our national and international network. Together with Defence Group and Service Capability Managers and contracted partners, our task is to demonstrably and continually improve the DFSC through systematic evidence-based data.

The successful candidate will have a variety of responsibilities within our audit, assurance and compliance programs. Knowledge, skills, and competencies with assurance, including strong verbal and written communication skills, are highly desired. Experience engaging with stakeholders on complex issues is also important. Knowledge of the fuel industry and its practices would be of significant benefit. The role will be implementing assurance activities across the DFSC, so a willingness to undertake frequent travel across the DFSC is essential.
