What is the role?
The AFP is looking for experienced, enthusiastic and highly organised Business Support Officer to fill current and anticipated vacancies in the Operation Aegis Strategy & Coordination Team and Request for Information (RFI) Team in Canberra.
As a Business Support Officer you will provide essential support and work under general direction from our Team Leaders.
The role will require you to be on the forefront of day-to-day administrative support, reporting, governance, finance, research and analysis.
You will be required to display initiative, think strategically and demonstrate sound judgement and decision making on a regular basis.
Relationship management, workflow prioritisation, and value-added coordination are key elements of this role.
These roles are fast paced with rigid timelines and require management of the office environment and prioritising the workflow.
To succeed in this role, you will have great people skills, demonstrate flexibility, resilience, initiative and discretion.
What will you do?
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Band 4 responsibilities
Providing support to the Operation AEGIS senior Management team on reporting, governance, HR and finance tasks; Performing a range of office administrative tasks, including inbox management; Supporting senior team members as required; Performing secretariat duties including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and drafting outcomes; Interrogating Intelligence systems for information gathering; Developing and maintaining an understanding of relevant subject matter and key policy, legislation constraints and strategy issue.
Band 5 responsibilities
Providing support to the Operation AEGIS senior Management team on reporting, governance, HR and finance tasks; Performing a range of office administrative tasks, including inbox management; Performing secretariat duties including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and drafting outcomes; Liaising with stakeholders and coordinating and progressing input to requests; Assisting in drafting briefings, talking points and presentations for the Executive; Undertaking a range of operational support tasks, projects or research to support Operation AEGIS team; Interrogating Intelligence systems for information gathering; Developing and maintaining an understanding of relevant subject matter and key policy, legislation constraints and strategy issue.
Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures to establish clear, concise and effective operational guidelines across the Taskforce.
Essential Requirements (Band 4 & 5) You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role and/or a willingness to learn.
Ability to be flexible and dynamic in response to changing priorities.
A high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
Desirable Requirements (Band 4 & 5) Demonstrated ability to work in a complex and dynamic environment.
Demonstrated stakeholder management skills and the ability to form productive working relationships as a member of a team.
