Medical Administration Registrar 1-4Full-time Temporary with a Possibility of Permanency The Director Medical Services (DMS) provides professional oversight of Canberra Health Services (CHS) medical staff with operational oversight of the services ordered by medical staff in the diagnosis and treatment of patients at CHS. The portfolio includes medical imaging, pharmacy, and health care technology management.The Medical Administration Registrar will work under the direction of the DMS to facilitate the development and implementation of robust medical administrative systems at CHS and develop expertise in matters relating to medical administration. This is a critical position working within a large-scale public healthcare service that offers training in a broad spectrum of medical administration tasks and duties.Reporting to the DMS, the Medical Administration Registrar is responsible for medical administration including:Providing leadership to Junior Medical Officers.Ensuring efficient operations and quality and safety standards are met to deliver excellent healthcare to the community.Credentialing and scope of practice.Complaints management.Service re-design.Quality and Safety activities.Implementation of the CHS Clinical Governance Framework.Review of relevant policies and procedures.Engagement, when required, with medical practitioners, seeking advice on issues relating to Human Resources processes, complaints, and matters relating to the Medical Practitioners Enterprise Agreement (MPEA).Key ResponsibilitiesSpecific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Assist in the delivery of safe high-quality medical care by participating in relevant committees, including those of the National Standards, actively contributing to organisational reaccreditation.Participate in the Director of Medical Services budgetary requirements.Engage in and promote education and research activities from medical student to senior staff levels where appropriate.Actively promote patient-focused service delivery and respect for patient rights, seeking feedback in evaluating services and responding to divisional complaints.Participate in appropriate industrial consultative committees and junior medical officer clinical advisory meetings.Facilitate patient complaints, prepare appropriate correspondence as relates to medico-legal and insurance matters, and work to systematically identify and address risk to service delivery.Participate in the Clinical Review Committee.Participate in Health Technology Advisory Committee (HTAC).Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.QualificationsEssential:Registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Completion of at least 3 years of clinical experience post-registration.Commitment to pursuing the qualification of Fellow of the Australasian College of Medical Administrators.Computer literacy skills relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems.Understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in alignment to the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework, and all other related frameworks.Desirable:Participation in - or completion of - a degree in management.ExperienceEssential:Experience or knowledge of the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework, and all other related frameworks.Prior to CommencementAppointment to this position is conditional on being granted and retaining appropriate clearances:Pre-employment National Police Check.Current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.Comply with Canberra Health Services Credentialing and scope of clinical practice requirements for medical professionals.All employees are required to:Adhere to the Canberra Health Services Values and the ACT Public Service Code of Conduct.Act in accordance and comply with all relevant Safety and Quality policies and procedures.Comply with all relevant clinical and/or competency standards.Be available for weekend and/or after-hours work.Note: This is a temporary position available for a period of up to 12 months with the possibility of extension of up to 12 months and/or permanency.For more information on this position and how to apply "click here"Canberra Health Services (CHS) is focused on the delivery of high-quality, effective, person-centered care.
