River Restoration Science Officer
Full-time Temporary Details : The ACT Office of Water is seeking an experienced and motivated river restoration science officer to join the Water Information Services section to lead in the delivery of the research, monitoring, and evaluation components of the 'Improving the Upper Murrumbidgee River Program'.
You will work closely with stakeholders within ACT Government, NSW Government, primary research institutions, and the community to deliver priority research to fill knowledge gaps in understanding of environmental processes, monitoring programs, and evaluation of on-ground restoration activities in the upper Murrumbidgee River catchment.
You will have skills and knowledge of freshwater ecology, the upper Murrumbidgee River catchment, and project management. You will provide program delivery and coordination, procurement, stakeholder engagement, data management, analysis, and communication to a diverse and engaged group of stakeholders.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: Mandatory: A degree or diploma in environmental science, data science, statistics, or equivalent from an Australian tertiary institution, or a comparable overseas qualification, which is appropriate to the duties of the position; An ACT Class C driver's license or equivalent. Highly Desirable: Experience in data analysis and familiarity with statistical programming languages (e.g., R). Knowledge of the aquatic ecology, catchments, and riverine systems of the ACT and region, including the issues impacting the health of the upper Murrumbidgee River. Experience in communicating scientific material to the general public, including social media, community engagement events, and website communications. Familiarity with procurement processes. Other Requirements: The selected officer will be expected to travel around the ACT and NSW regions of the upper Murrumbidgee River.
