Our specially trained Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, and Aircrew use helicopters, turboprop aircraft, aeromedical jets, and patient transport vehicles to provide critical support to over 8,500 patients each year. The role : Based in Darwin, your role will involve both high and low acuity transfers within the 'Top End' of Australia, interstate, and internationally. Working from bases in Darwin and elsewhere, you will experience many transfers from remote Indigenous Communities. Each role is full-time and based in Darwin. These opportunities are available for 6- or 12-month placements accredited by ACEM, ANZCA, and CICM. Start dates align with NT medical terms in February and August annually. Our Training : Previous retrieval experience is not required as Care Flight's comprehensive induction program will build on the critical care knowledge that you bring with you to this job. This package includes a place on our Pre Hospital Trauma Course (PHTC), training in Interhospital and International retrieval medicine, and aviation training including Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) and other techniques. To be successful in this role you will : be registered (or be eligible for registration) with AHPRA to practice in Australia; have completed your primary exams; have a minimum of five years' postgraduate critical care experience - high-level airway and resuscitation skills; have 3 months experience in ICU (or critical care rotation); have 3-6 months experience in Anaesthetics; have 6 months experience in Emergency; have 6 months experience in Paediatrics (or 12 months mixed rotation); have the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with excellent communication skills; have completed ETM, EMST or equivalent; successfully complete the Care Flight functionality (fitness) assessment; be prepared to successfully undertake Helicopter Underwater Escape Training; hold a current passport (plus visa if required); and hold a current driver's licence with the ability to drive when on scene (if required).
