The key duties of the position include: The Director of Capability Development, Information Division is responsible for leading the delivery of software development and infrastructure capability development services to the department. This role will drive capability development by effectively managing a section of highly skilled IT professionals who are posted to multi-disciplinary project teams. The section maintains Centres of Excellence for Business Analysis, Quality Assurance and Software Development in order to develop best practice frameworks and offer opportunities for staff to share and further develop their skills through peer review and close engagement with the private sector.
Key Responsibilities of the role are: Manage a Section of highly skilled IT professionals, including testers, business analysts and developers. Identify opportunities to enhance capability development practices, processes and efficiency through continuous improvement. Identify opportunities to partner with external providers to deliver technology solutions. Delivery of quality, fit-for-purpose digital solutions for AGD business areas and/or in support of Government priorities. Strategic planning in relation to digital solutions including software development technology choices, workforce planning and ensuring effective vendor arrangements and delivery strategies. Minimum Requirements In addition to meeting the AGD Performance Expectations for an EL2, our ideal candidate will meet the following Criteria:
Demonstrated experience in software development delivery in a small to medium public sector environment. Extensive experience in analysis and planning of resource requirements for individual projects to inform workforce planning and scheduling of projects. Demonstrated communication and negotiation skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of stakeholders both technical and non-technical. Experience in the delivery of projects using MS Dynamics and/or Service Now. Eligibility To be eligible for employment at the Attorney-General's Department applicants must be Australian citizens. Applicants offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a police record check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a specified clearance level. The successful applicant must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
