Job DescriptionWe are seeking an individual who can effectively manage our kitchen by overseeing other team members, deciding what dishes to serve, and adjusting orders to meet customer requests. The ideal candidate will assist in prep-work, cook specialty dishes that require seasonal changes, and choose ingredients and design menus based on availability, popularity, and demand.
This role involves working in a fast-paced, fully functioning kitchen where cleanliness and organization are paramount. The successful candidate must be able to work well under pressure, have knowledge of various food varieties and ingredients, excellent communication skills, and the ability to accept customer feedback to improve future experiences.
Responsibilities: Plan and direct food preparation, cooking, and presentation in a busy setting from entrees to mains, including fresh house-made pastas, traditional pizzas, and breads.Set up the kitchen with necessary utensils and equipment, such as knives, pans, and kitchen scales.Work with cooks and other kitchen staff to efficiently provision and purchase supplies.Collaborate with the Director to plan menus that are flavorful and popular with customers.Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and other food preparation workers.Maintain high standards of food quality, quantity, taste, and presentation according to the menu and customer preference.Perform food preparation tasks and check order quality/presentation to ensure consistency and proper cooking.Coordinate tasks so that items served together are finished at the same time.Ensure the kitchen is kept to a high standard by providing a clean, hygienic environment for meal preparation and delivery.Assist the Director in recruitment activities for cooks and other food preparation workers.Stock and maintain adequate levels of food products at line stations.Advise on cooking methods and practices.Support the Director in routine and specific tasks.Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and kitchen maintenance.Comply with all health and safety regulations.Required Skills and QualificationsWe require:
AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2).At least 3 years of relevant work experience.The ability to handle busy services and maintain food quality while working in a fast-paced environment.A hardworking and positive attitude.The ability to work within a team and independently, with flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and nights.
