The Aboriginal Coalition to End Homelessness Society (ACEH) is a non-profit, registered charity, and culturally supportive housing provider dedicated to supporting First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Our work is Indigenous-led and governed, centering around the voices of those who have shared their experiences, immediate needs, and solutions. Through building partnerships locally and island-wide, we work to identify and address systemic and structural barriers while providing Indigenized harm reduction, cultural support services, and housing.
Our Vision:Our way is to care for all our people, from the youngest to the oldest. We are all one. Some of our people living away from home are suffering, isolated and homeless. We stand together to end homelessness. Position Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 10 PM to 06 AM Wage: $30.00 per hour. Additional $2.00 top-up for hours worked between 11 PM to 07 AM.

The ACEH is seeking an Aunty who will provide support to the Family Members we serve through cultural activities and one-on-one guidance. This position will primarily focus on the Sacred Cradle House (XEXE PAHLATSIS LELUM) while also helping with the development of support systems at the Wellness House (under development). This person will be instrumental in promoting wellness and cultural connection through Indigenous practices and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities: Support the development and facilitation of land-based healing programs, cultural activities, and healing practices, including art projects and traditional ceremonies.Assist Family Members in connecting with mentors and/or resources, such as programs that support healing and well-being and the development of life skills.Provide guidance and support to Family Members to access cultural and healing resources.Offer personalized support to Family Members based on intake/move-in lists for Wellness House.Act as a trusted advisor and confidant, helping to support Family Members as they navigate their wellness journey.Collaborate with the broader ACEH teams to support land-based healing and cultural programs.Provide insights and recommendations to enhance programming through an Indigenous lens.Contribute to the development of an internal ACEH addiction support program with a focus on Indigenous approaches and pathways to healing to provide Family Members in our houses with consistent support.What you bring with you: Cultural Knowledge and Connection: Strong connection to First Nations, Inuit, or Metis cultures and traditions.Lived experience and understanding of land-based healing and traditional practices.Community Experience Experience in community work, particularly within Indigenous communities.Experience facilitating and leading cultural programming in a group setting.Personal experience with addiction and/or homelessness, which informs a compassionate and understanding approach.Support and Guidance Experience in mentoring or supporting women and families is an asset.Knowledge of addiction support and resources, particularly Indigenous approaches to healing.Ability to respond, problem-solve, provide crisis intervention, and manage conflict in a culturally supportive manner.Collaborative Spirit Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals.Ability to build trust and provide compassionate support.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Requirements of the Role: This position requires the willingness and ability to consent to the Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check for Working with Vulnerable Adults and Youth.Required to have class 5 driver's license and working vehicle.Why Join the ACEH?
