The QAS supports more than 500 elite athletes on their sporting journey from talented juniors to Olympians, Paralympians, and World Champions. Our expert staff support athletes through in-house programs, partnerships with State and National Sporting Organisations, and individualised support for athletes on medal-winning trajectories to help them perform when it matters most.
Our ambitious high-performance strategy for the 2032 Games is to create more medal-winning moments for Queensland athletes that inspire their state and nation. While this strategy defines our goals, our organisation's culture is what will help us achieve them. Therefore, the QAS is looking for highly talented and motivated individuals whose values and behaviours align with ours, to join our QAS Team.
This role will include: Provide quality advice to the Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement Lead, QAS management, athletes, and stakeholder groups on AW&E strategy, programs, and projects that address challenges related to each individual athlete's journey.In partnership with sport and the AW&E team, ensure all QAS Athletes have an appropriate AW&E Development Plan to address the contemporary issues faced by high-performance athletes and to ensure they are supported as a person and as a performer.Support athletes as they navigate the demands of high-performance sport, providing assistance to empower them to find a balance between wellbeing, engagement in activities outside of training and competition, and the requirements of elite high-performance sport.Coordinate with the Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement team to deliver impactful athlete wellbeing and engagement (AW&E) services to QAS supported athletes, ensuring the athletes are effectively inducted and equipped with the skills to thrive in High Performance environments.Work with the QAS Athlete Leadership Group to advise, guide and support QAS practices and policies for QAS athletes across the state, assisting in developing and implementing a range of AW&E products and services that are aligned to the 2032 QAS Strategy.Collaborate on the creation and delivery of AW&E key projects and programs in alignment with AIS and NSO partners to address the contemporary issues faced by high-performance athletes, both within sport and external career opportunities.Support the delivery and review of QAS AW&E Strategy, Tactics and KPI's and ensure all QAS Athletes have an 'Off-field', individuated plan that aligns to the Athlete's plan, and ensures they are supported as a person and a performer.Adopt an individualised case management approach when assessing athlete needs and career advice referrals, contributing to the development of the athlete performance planning process with a specific focus on the AW&E component and future athlete requirements.Work with QAS Communications personnel to amplify the extraordinary journeys of Queensland athletes pursuing excellence through powerful storytelling, proactively linking Queensland athletes to schools and targeted community programs to drive positive social change.In partnership with sports and the AW&E team, contribute to the development and delivery of effective inductions, transitions, and exits for QAS athletes.The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our athletes.
