Senior Project and Support Officer, First Nations Engagement and Reconciliation About the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. We work to improve the lives of older people by maintaining the integrity of the aged care system.

It is an exciting time to join the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, with major reforms underway to improve aged care in Australia. You will be contributing to our role as the national regulator to safeguard and protect older Australians receiving aged care services.
This role will work across the Commission to support the deliverables under the Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan and other First Nations activities undertaken within the Group to build our capability in engaging and communicating with First Nations providers, workers, older people and communities. You will be expected to liaise closely with the Indigenous Staff Network and oversee feedback and consultation processes. This role seeks to address future needs and requirements within the team and enhance leadership capabilities.
About You You are a passionate, results-driven individual with a strong understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories.
Position Duties Reporting to the Assistant Director, First Nations Engagement and Reconciliation your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Providing project support and coordination to assist with the delivery of specific Reconciliation Action Plan (IRAP) and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander priorities within the Commission to achieve quality outcomes. Stakeholder engagement: Building and sustaining positive engagement of both internal and external stakeholders (including the Indigenous Staff Network) and incorporating actions as part of various projects, action plans or tasks. Assisting with the coordination and organisation of cultural events and reconciliation activities, which include days of significance across the Commission and ISN planning days. Supporting the operations of the Innovate RAP Working Group including the preparation of documents and associated products. This includes coordinating and scheduling meetings, drafting and finalising agendas and minutes as well as actively monitoring and updating action item registers. Supporting the identification of innovation and best practice for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people to build internal capability. Raising awareness about the Commission's reconciliation activities and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander related topics. Supporting the delivery of activities that enhance and optimise the Commission's operational field staff engagement with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people receiving aged care services, and their representatives. Other duties required by the External Communications and Engagement section within the field of the APS6 classification against our deliverables. Position Eligibility Requirements (Selection Criteria) : You will demonstrate experience and capability including:
Relevant experience in supporting and monitoring the implementation of reconciliation action plans along with high-level community consultation and engagement skills. A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander culture, health and wellbeing. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and stakeholders. Project management capability and/or strong planning skills including maintaining data, consultation registers. Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and manage competing priorities. Respond positively to change, take responsibility for managing work projects and supporting teams. Apply judgement, intelligence and common sense to identify and respond appropriately to risk within the Commission's risk management framework and escalate issues accordingly. Be an effective representative of the organisation, acting professionally (including adhering to APS Values & Code of Conduct) and operating within the boundaries of organisational processes and legal and public policy directions. Mentoring and ability to share cultural knowledge and experience having worked and/or lived in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities. Experience in managing and developing teams. Position Notes: Salary offered will be between $92,970 - $104,883 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
