Testar Australia is looking for a full-time astrophotographer with a passion for astronomy and telescope equipment. Testar is the telescope shop with the largest range of telescopes and accessories in the country. We sell 10 Micron, SkyWatcher, ZWO, QHY, Baader, Prima Luce Lab, Geoptik, Officina Stellare, SharpStar, Askar, Antlia, Optolong and many more brands. We are specialised in the mid to high range astrophotography equipment as well as in the design of observatories and customised solutions for astronomy.
This role requires an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual and a desire to develop hands-on experience in a growing business, with a focus on customer service and sales.

The candidate is expected to:                                                                                                                                         Be a passionate astrophotographer and willing to expand his/her knowledgeHave had exposure to astrophotography, from the setup of the telescope to the basic post processing techniquesRemain up to date with new products Skill requirements: Able to communicate with customers about astrophotography and to recommend the appropriate equipment for different budgetsProviding sales and customer services via email, over the phone and face-to-faceGood literacy skills, able to write a description of a technical itemBe well organisedBasic knowledge of PhotoshopAble to use basic programs of a Windows PC such as Office Preferable but not essential
Experience with Excel, Shopify and Xero.Breakdown of duties (but are not limited to): Replying to everyday enquiries (mainly via phone and email, occasionally in person at the store), preparing quotes and answering technical questions (training will be provided).Writing item descriptions on the website and blog posts, uploading photos and creating new website pages using the Shopify platformOccasional warehouse duties (assisting with parcels)Miscellaneous jobsWe provide: Extensive training for astronomy equipment and optics and the mechanical and engineering aspects of the fieldComfortable opening hours (10:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday)The yearly salary is $60.000 + super and is negotiable based on the experience. The working hours are 10:00 to 6:00 with a one hour lunch break, Monday to Friday.
