Associate to the Honourable Justice GortonJob posted: 06/01/2025• Work for the Supreme Court of Victoria, the highest court in Victoria• Opportunity for a legally qualified individual to become Associate to the Honourable Justice Gorton• Full-time ongoing VPS3 position, located in Melbourne CBDAbout UsCourt Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.About the RoleThe Honourable Justice Gorton is seeking a legally qualified individual to be his Associate commencing in March 2025.The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience working in the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria.Duties include:Preparing research and briefing memoranda and assisting in the production of judgments papers and presentations, including proofreading and editingPerforming administrative tasks, including maintaining Court records and preparing material for use by the Judge in courtSpeaking in court - empanelling juries, taking verdicts and arraigning the accusedLiaising with court staff, the public, the media and the professionAccompanying the Judge to circuit courts in regional Victoria, as and when required.About YouYou will possess excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to confidently and accurately convey information over the telephone, in person, and via written communication to members of the legal profession, the public and the media are essential to this role.Excellent proofreading and writing skills, proficiency in grammar and an excellent academic record is essential.Must be qualified in Law with 1-2 years post admission experience desirable.How to applyClick the 'Apply Now' button, ensuring you include the following in your application:ResumeAcademic transcriptThe closing date for applications is midnight Monday 27 January 2025.Other informationCSV is the employer of staff at Courts Group.
