The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria.Excellent writing skills and a strong academic record are essential, along with personal qualities suitable for liaising with the profession and members of the public.
An individual with up to two years' post-graduate experience and/or an interest in criminal law would be advantageous.Duties include:Performing administrative tasks, including maintaining Court records and preparing material for use by the judge in Court;Preparing research and briefing memoranda and assisting in the production of judgments, papers and presentations, including proofreading and editing;Speaking in Court - empanelling juries, taking verdicts and arraigning the accused;Jury keeping duties during trial;Liaising with Court staff, the public, the media and the profession.How to applyCandidates should familiarise themselves with the attached position description and submit an application which includes a:resume; andcopy of their academic transcript.This should be submitted online, through the Victorian Government Careers website.
