As Teneo continues to grow its operations in Asia-Pacific, we are looking for a high calibre candidate to join our dynamic and professional Strategy and Communications team as an Associate based in the firm's Sydney office.
You will be a part of a team advising clients on how to create effective narratives, manage reputation, engage with key audiences, and tell proactive stories which support our clients' strategic objectives.
As an Associate you'll be responsible for providing the highest quality of service to our clients and play a pivotal role in driving forward activity across multiple account teams, delivering regular insight and analysis, and supporting clients' reputational and strategic objectives. Associates help mentor and coach team members.
Responsibilities: Market, legislative, regulatory and policy analysis – conduct research and analysis to understand market, geopolitical and/ or business trends. Prepare policy papers, policy response statements, and points-of-view on the relevant policies.Stakeholder Engagement - Developing a network of relevant external stakeholders across government, industry, media, and industry/trade associations. This includes supporting client leads on engagement with state and federal government, both at political and bureaucratic levels, to drive growth of Teneo's government relations function in Australia.Media monitoring and advisory – Monitor news and coverage especially with regard to policy and political updates, with a potential impact to client business, analysing information to derive insights that inform strategy and planning, and summarising in report form.Media landscape and engagement – keep abreast of current trends, news and developments in the media landscape. Build understanding and lists of media targets and influential journalists to support client account work. Supports the development of media engagement plans as part of communications activities.Content development – lead the creation of compelling and impactful content for various communications channels including traditional media, digital and social media. Collaborate with colleagues to develop client ready documents e.g. presentations, reports.Supporting account management – assist the wider account team in managing client relationship by providing support during client meetings, developing and maintaining client communication materials, taking notes, updating project trackers and helping to ensure all client needs are met in a timely and satisfactory manner.Supporting new business development - supporting senior members of the team with new business proposals e.g. conducting research and developing insights to support the proposal building process.Requirements: 3 - 5 years related experience in experience in public policy, government affairs, corporate & financial communications, journalism, or management consulting is preferable.Existing network of relationships with government, public policy makers, think tanks and industry associations preferred.Have a strong interest in business, public policy, geopolitics, macroeconomic/finance events and a desire to work across the breadth of Teneo's Strategy and Communications service offering.Possessing excellent verbal and written skills in English.Bachelor's degree ideally in law, business and/or economics, public policy. A postgraduate degree is an advantage.Strong ability to grasp clients' business objectives and provide strategic insight on the implications, risks and opportunities arising from key developments.International experience (study and/or work) a plus.Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.Candidate needs to be confident, mature, and outgoing. How long will you keep my information for? If your application for employment is unsuccessful, we will keep your data 3 years after we have informed you that your application was unsuccessful. We keep your data for this period so that we can show that the recruitment process has been conducted in a fair and transparent way. We also retain your personal data so that we can notify you of future job opportunities if they arise. At the end of this period, we will securely destroy your personal data.
