The Role As a Patent Attorney, you will play a key role in providing comprehensive patent services to local and international clients, navigating highly competitive industries.
Your responsibilities will include:
Drafting and prosecuting patent applications across Australia and internationally.Managing and overseeing intellectual property portfolios for a wide range of clients.Representing clients in complex patent oppositions and providing expert insights in patent litigation matters.Conducting freedom-to-operate searches and advising on IP risks and strategies.Developing and executing global IP strategies that align with client needs.Collaborating closely with the IP practice, especially in the area of patent litigation, where your expertise will be invaluable.Contributing to business development efforts, such as writing articles, preparing pitch materials, attending industry events, and hosting seminars.This role offers a flexible hybrid working model (60% in-office), with an emphasis on work-life balance tailored to your needs.
About You To succeed in this role, you will bring the following qualifications and experience:
Proven experience as a Patent Attorney, ideally in a reputable law firm or in-house setting, with a strong focus on the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.A PhD in Organic Chemistry (or related field), plus post-graduate qualifications and either research or industry experience in your area of expertise.Strong track record in drafting and prosecuting patents, particularly within the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.Experience with patent oppositions is advantageous but not essential.Ability to manage large, complex patent portfolios and matters effectively.A proactive approach to business development, including writing pitches, contributing to initiatives, and participating in industry events.A collaborative mindset, with a focus on building long-term client relationships and understanding client needs.A desire to grow professionally and contribute to the success of the IP practice.Our client offers an array of exceptional benefits and a supportive work environment, including:
