Associate Registry Officer, various teamsClerk Grade: 3/4 Employment Type: 3 x Ongoing, Full-time, 2 x Temporary, Full-time (3-years) Location : Principally office based in Pyrmont, Sydney with limited hybrid working arrangements. These roles sit within two teams in Civil Registration Services within the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM). About the Registry The NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages is an agency within the NSW Department of Customer Service.
The Registry was formed in 1856 to register life events in NSW accurately and securely for all time.
This includes the registration of births, deaths and marriages and official changes of name and sex. About the teams There are five teams within the Civil Registration Services that support the following life events: Births, Deaths, Marriages and Relationships, Change of Name and Change of Sex (CON / COS).
The 3x ongoing roles sit within the CON / COS team, and the 2x temporary (3-year) roles sit within Marriages and Relationships.The responsibilities for this role: Assess various incoming applications and registrations; identify whether legislative, policy and procedural requirements are met, make appropriate recommendations, and take the necessary action to progress the case.
Assess entries to be made into the Register of births, deaths, marriages and relationships, especially registrations of a more complex nature, for example, change of name and late birth registrations, to ensure accurate and secure registration in line with Agency policy and procedures.
Review and evaluate legal documents from national and international sources; and verify statutory declarations and supporting evidence to ensure compliance with legislation and Registry policy.
Respond to enquiries and resolve issues from customers, external agencies and stakeholders in relation to the Registry's products, services and legislative requirements, including receiving, processing and registering applications for various life events to ensure high quality service delivery.
Provide high-quality information and assistance to clients and stakeholders via telephone, face-to-face, email and other forms of communication to ensure positive customer experience.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the ability to: Provide a range of administrative and processing tasks in a high-volume environment with accuracy and efficiency whilst working independently Keep up to date with information and knowledge required to deliver quality service Exercise tact, professional judgement and sensitivity when responding to culturally and/or linguistically diverse customers.
What we need from you: Clearly detail your skills and experience as relevant to this role with: An up-to-date CV of no more than 3 pages A brief cover letter (1 page preferred) Salary Grade 3/4, with the base salary for this role starting at 79,032 base plus superannuation.
