The Opportunity Future Fund's Unlisted Property team is responsible for managing a global portfolio of unlisted property investments held by funds and mandates managed by the Agency.
These include investments via both debt and equity in specific property portfolios, as well as investments in a global portfolio of pooled funds and co-investments alongside our external investment managers.
We are recruiting an Associate to provide investment, analytical and operational support to the Unlisted Property team in the implementation and ongoing management of the portfolio and deployment of capital into new attractive opportunities within Australia and across the world.
The Associate will also contribute to the building of, maintaining and drawing insights from databases and frameworks into the drivers of listed and unlisted property, as well as engaging in fundamental research on aspects of the investment process and landscape.
Over time, the Associate will support in the development of the Agency's Unlisted Property strategy.
The role requires an understanding of finance and valuation fundamentals.
Prior knowledge and experience in the property sector is preferred but not essential.
Our total portfolio approach means that you will gain exposure to and collaborate with teams across multiple asset classes and over time, you'll be able to contribute to decision making, implementation and management of the portfolio.
The position is open to candidates in both Melbourne and Sydney.
Key Responsibilities This role focuses on portfolio analysis, asset management, and transaction support within the Property teams.
It involves monitoring portfolio data, delivering performance analysis, and coordinating with internal and external sector teams.
Regular reporting on asset performance and external investment managers is essential, along with supporting the evaluation of new and existing investment opportunities through financial modelling, research, and due diligence processes.
Key responsibilities include assisting in managing property investments, drafting board papers on property matters, and engaging with various stakeholders such as external service providers and investment managers.
The role requires building strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, including legal and tax, to ensure smooth execution of due diligence workstreams and transactions.
Market monitoring and research are also a critical part of this role, with a focus on developing tools to track global property managers and transactions.
The role involves analysing market trends, prices, and macroeconomic factors while collaborating with other investment teams to align on strategy and share insights that contribute to the overall success of the investment program.
About You We are seeking a candidate with a strong academic background in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Science, or a related quantitative field.
While a postgraduate degree is a plus, it is not essential.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in financial markets and investing, with relevant experience in finance, consulting, or asset management.
An understanding and interest in property investments and strategies, investment theory and financial valuation techniques is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel applications In addition to technical expertise, the candidate should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling them to effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders.
They should be intellectually curious, adaptable, and able to navigate ambiguity while contributing positively to a team environment.
Strong written and analytical skills, particularly in preparing financial models and reports, are essential.
The ideal candidate is committed to accuracy and quality, demonstrating a meticulous approach to their work.
They should be capable of balancing multiple priorities and shifting tasks as needed in a dynamic environment.
A strong work ethic, a collaborative spirit, and a drive to exceed expectations are key attributes that will ensure success in this role.
