Lead transformative initiatives in Indigenous education and research at a globally recognised institution. Level D, full-time appointment on an ongoing, tenurable basis. Base salary range: $158,906 – $174,822 p.a. plus 17% superannuation. About the school
You will be an integral part of the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Education (PVCIE), spearheading the University's Indigenous Education Strategy. This involves leadership within the School of Indigenous Studies, as well as overseeing strategic developments at the Berndt Museum and the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health. Through these avenues, you will shape multi-disciplinary teaching and research programs while providing essential support to Indigenous students.
Position overview
This position falls within the School of Indigenous Studies and operates under the guidance of the Pro Vice Chancellor Indigenous Education. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching Indigenous knowledge, engaging in groundbreaking research, and providing leadership within the academic community.
Reporting structure
You will report directly to the Pro Vice Chancellor Indigenous Education, ensuring alignment with the university's strategic priorities in Indigenous education and research.
About the role
In this role, you will deliver high-quality teaching in Indigenous knowledge and conduct impactful research, including the supervision of research students. You will actively pursue research funding, contribute to the academic environment of the School of Indigenous Studies, and provide leadership within the Berndt Museum. Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of the Indigenous portfolio.
Key Responsibilities :
Enhance pedagogical excellence within the School. Develop and lead undergraduate educational programs. Conduct ground-breaking research independently and collaboratively. Seek and secure research funding from external sources. Engage in community outreach and build strong stakeholder relationships. Foster interdisciplinary links within UWA and beyond. Contribute to the administration and promotion of the School's agendas. Participate in academic initiatives and governance activities. About you
To be considered for this opportunity, you will:
Hold a PhD in a relevant academic field. Demonstrate leadership abilities and effectiveness in team management. Showcase excellence in curriculum development and innovative teaching methods. Possess familiarity with university coordination and assessment practices. Display a track record of research excellence and successful funding applications.  Exhibit capacity for mentoring junior colleagues and research students. Ability to engage with Indigenous organizations and stakeholders. Demonstrate exceptional academic communication skills. Special Requirements (Selection Criteria) :
