About Us The School of Veterinary Medicine is responsible for the training of veterinary science graduates and the degree program has received international accreditation.
A central part of the training is development of core clinical competencies and as part of this process, veterinary science students undertake training in our hospital, clinics, and clinical services.
In addition to the training of undergraduate veterinarians, SVM also trains a number of postgraduate specialists in Residency programs.
Veterinary professional practice is central to the curriculum within the School of Veterinary Medicine.
The program contributes to the teaching of all veterinary students as well as participating in international collaborations on graduate outcomes and day one competencies.
The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University is an ASAVA accredited facility with a robust referral, emergency and primary care caseload across a breadth of companion animal and food animal species.
The Animal Hospital provides clinical experience for fifth year veterinary students enrolled in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program and provides caseload for the training of residents and specialty trainee postgraduate students.
The Role A strong track record of academic excellence is expected at this level, as is high quality research that has national and/or international impact.
An Associate Professor makes a considerable contribution to the University's postgraduate supervision and is expected to play a leadership role in University administration.
Links to relevant industry groups and external stakeholders that will advance the interests of the Discipline and the University are also expected.
This position makes a substantial contribution to all teaching activities within the Discipline, as well as a substantial contribution to the College and profession.
What you'll bring to this role A degree in Veterinary Science registrable with the Veterinary Surgeons' Board of Western AustraliaA clinical specialist qualification (DECVIM-CA, DACVIM or fellowship) in small animal surgery.Demonstrated ability to work under broad direction only, exercise initiative in undertaking responsibilities and work effectively as a team member.A high level of achievement in successfully supervising honours, Masters by Coursework, HDR and postgraduate students (including residents) to completion.A record of success in the application of curriculum design and pedagogy, including substantial experience with leading and designing programs of study.Applicants should refer to the Position Description for further details on the work requirements, duties, skills and experience required for this role.
