Our media and communications team is located in the city precinct and students/staff have access to a number of high-end production facilities – from a multicamera studio and performance spaces to animation studios and design spaces.
Position Overview This is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the future of education and research in media and communication at the University of Newcastle.
You will; Demonstrate educational leadership in Teaching and Learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, promoting innovation aligned with contemporary trends.
Contribute to the research agenda, maintaining a strong output of publications or creative works, with national and international recognition, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Supervise PhD students Build industry connections to support research, knowledge exchange, work-integrated learning and graduate employment opportunities.
Provide academic leadership to promote a workplace culture that embraces opportunities to benefit students, the School and the wider University.
This continuing position is full time, primarily based at the City Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land), with the opportunity to work at our other locations as required.

About you With a PhD in Media and Communication or a related area, you will be an established professional, with strong experience in teaching and research.
In addition, our ideal candidate will have; Some experience of media production, including some familiarity with media and communications relevant software  Research expertise: Specialisation in public or strategic communication, digital storytelling, media law and ethics, environmental/science communication, media activism, or Indigenous, LGBTQIA+ or community/regional media.

Remuneration and Benefits The remuneration for this position is from $166,260 - 183,163 + 17% superannuation.
