We're seeking experienced Senior or Principal Consultants with net zero advisory expertise to drive our mission forward.In this pivotal role, you'll play a key role in leading our Net Zero Advisory service offering, helping clients across sectors develop and implement integrated climate transition plans. Your work will align decarbonisation, climate resilience, biodiversity, and social outcomes with broader strategic priorities. Additionally, you'll cultivate a net zero culture across the broader Strategic Advisory business and enhance our technical capabilities.Key service areas include:Crafting decarbonization roadmaps and net zero transition plansDeveloping and implementing net zero/climate policiesImproving organizational processes for managing carbon and ESG mattersValuing carbon and sustainability outcomes in decision-makingYou'll collaborate with a high-performing team, engaging with government and private sector clients. Our broader Advisory capabilities encompass business case development, economic analysis, strategic asset management, social value, digital advisory, and planning and mobility.This role offers a blend of business development, strategy, technical work, and project management, with potential for team leadership. Join us and make a significant impact on our journey to net zero!In this diverse and exciting role you can:Lead or author strategic or technical input in projects relating to net zero strategies; carbon management processes; corporate reporting; scope 3 emissions; developing science-based targets as part of a corporate sustainability strategy, etc.Proactively collaborate with internal teams and contribute to projects in transport, large precinct developments, urban & regional regeneration, renewable energy, water, and mining during early planning stages.Facilitate capability across teams to identify, promote and deliver low carbon solutions.Represent WSP at industry events and contribute to thought leadership to help fortify our position in the marketplace.Lead discussions with clients, write compelling proposals, and build relationships to support business development.Work collaboratively with WSP's experienced economists, and undertake techno-economic feasibility studies of investments to drive decarbonisation, sustainability and value for money outcomes.This role can be based in Syndey, Melbourne, or Brisbane for preference, however applicants from other Australian cities are encouraged to apply.About you:You will have at least 10 years of advisory experience as a consultant working as part of an in-house team on net zero / decarbonisation strategy, ESG / sustainability, climate change resilience/adaptation issues, designing and implementing sustainability strategies, policies, or programs for the built environment.Your background will include:Experience of collaborative working across multiple disciplines and promoting focused action to deliver positive outcomes across infrastructure projects (e.g. transport, energy, property, etc.)The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients to support the expansion of WSP's net zero capabilityComprehensive experience and a strong ethical grasp of governance, working in the quantification of all scopes of GHG emissions, including embodied carbon, developing net zero solutions and transition scenariosApplied knowledge of Australian and international legislation, guidance, methodologies and best practice in terms of climate change mitigation, including the NGERS reporting, GHG Protocol, PAS 2080 and the latest approaches of the SBTiLeadership qualities, an excellent communicator and driven to continually learn and improveIdeally, a relevant degree in Engineering, Economics, Environmental Sciences, Commerce, Climate or Sustainability fieldsAdditional desirable attributes:Experience supporting clients through climate and sustainability related disclosure and assurance processes e.g. TCFD, GRI, SBTiExperience in sustainable and climate finance Experience in climate change risk and resilience strategy, especially at the network and organisational scale Experience in GHG auditing, carbon offsetting and carbon neutral certification schemes e.g. NGERS, Climate ActiveAbout WSPWSP is one of the world's leading engineering professional services firms, bringing together approximately 6,000 talented people across 15 offices in Australia.
