We are keen on speaking to Ecologists with a range of experience and with the skillset to hit the ground running on a great variety of projects. Job tasks and responsibilities You will be confident in your technical ability and have a positive attitude to do the following tasks: Providing high quality service and advice to clients and colleagues in ecology and biodiversity matters Have an excellent understanding of Northern Territory and Northern Australia flora and fauna and the ability to apply those skills to field and office-based tasks Scope, design and lead field survey programs to collect a variety of different ecological data Provide support to the Northern Australia ecology and biodiversity team in the delivery of field projects, data interpretation and report reviews Interpretation and application of environmental legislation to projects across a variety of different sectors Development of technical reports detailing the outcomes of field survey programs and implications for environmental impact assessment and management Provide input into and support the development of environmental assessment and approvals for projects in line with the Northern Territory Environment Act and Federal Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act Interact with varying levels of regulating bodies at both the Territory and Federal level to discuss, explore and agree on technical matters as they apply to project delivery Preparing tenders and proposals Assisting in the development and implementation of team business plans and strategies Integrating your technical work into multidisciplinary assessments and project teams Providing leadership and guidance to junior staff Travel to remote areas, including interstate, to conduct field survey programs Skills and experience The successful candidate must have: An appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources or in another related field 9+ years' experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or an equivalent role in Government, including undertaking ecological surveys and report production Experience in the design and implementation of flora and fauna field surveys and monitoring programs Excellent flora and fauna identification skills Mature report writing and computer skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare high quality written material for publication Proven ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks Proven project management experience in relation to client management and budget control Our benefits at SLR include: Our culture is unique where we work together to collaborate on projects to get the best possible outcome for our clients.
