This role is suitable for an early-mid career engineer looking to deepen their experience and knowledge in an enterprise environment.There is a volunteer on-call component to this position which means our ideal candidate is based in Sydney. Key responsibilities Operate and maintain applications and services provided by the Compute Platforms team, including Windows Server products e.g., Microsoft Windows Server operating system environments, Active Directory, VMWare ESXi and Cisco UCS Compute platform, as well as Unix server operating systems as needed. Support clients in the effective utilisation of Windows & Unix Server platforms by responding to moderately complex incidents and requests in a timely manner. Collaborate with the ABC project development and support teams to assist them with deploying and consuming solutions provided by the team, both on-premises or in the cloud. Under general direction improve system reliability, quality, and security through monitoring, reporting and fault resolution on supported platforms. Maintain detailed technical knowledge of ABC Windows Server & Unix platform systems and services; and assist in creating and maintaining support documentation. About you Significant experience in the support and administration of Windows Server and/or Unix Server environments. Experience in the proficient management and support of the following (at least three): Active Directory/Group Policy/DNS/DHCPVMware vSphere environmentsMicrosoft Server OS build processes, including image-based deployment methodologiesCloud (IaaS) experience with AWS or Microsoft AzureMicrosoft Server Clustering (MSCS)AD Certificate ServicesEndpoint Management Suites such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)RedHat Linux v7 & v8Ubuntu Sound understanding with common scripting languages for system administration such as Python, Java, Bash/Shell script, PowerShell, or PHP. Familiarity with IP networking concepts such as subnet masks and routing table entries. Proficient problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and solve moderately complex technical problems encountered on the job. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to work in a team and convey ideas and information in a clear, concise, and positive manner to a range of different stakeholders.
