The Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit (CTSU) provides surgical management of a variety of different cardiovascular and thoracic conditions including ischaemic heart disease, valvular disease (both valve replacement and repair, including for rheumatic heart disease), aortic disease (including valve-sparing aortic surgery), adult congenital heart conditions, and both benign and malignant lung and other chest disease for public and private patients.
About the role: Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager Cardiothoracic Theatres, this role will assist the Nurse Unit Manager or equivalent in undertaking ward/unit/service management responsibilities.
Duties for the role will include: Provide proficient, person-centred, clinical nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients in a defined clinical area,Assist and support the Nurse Unit Manager or equivalent in management, clinical, and education activities,Participate in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experiences, and goal setting for students, new staff, and staff with less experience,Promote continuity and consistency of care in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager or equivalent of the ward/unit/service.About you: Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,Demonstrated knowledge and experience in cardiac and thoracic surgery in the Scrub/Scout role,Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 4 years, full-time equivalent, post-registration experience,Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses,Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.Want To Know More?
