The Role
HDR is looking for an experienced Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services (BES) team in Melbourne.
This position will be based out of our Melbourne Office and will design, manage, and supervise projects, working as part of a global engineering consultancy.
In the role of Associate Mechanical Engineer, we'll count on you to:
Assist the Group Leader with monitoring engineering/CAD resource requirement for each project within your control. Carry out engineering concept design to detailed design, tender, and contract on-site supervision, to completion, ensuring projects are undertaken in accordance with design briefs and that completion deadlines are achieved. Liaise with the design team to produce co-ordinated designs that are technically compliant, to a consistent quality and standard. Provide positive contribution to design/project meetings. Maintain regular 'in house' design reviews and checks. Monitor and control project progress, design variations and project financial budgets. Monitor contract staff or third-party appointments. Maintain excellent client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business. Pursue new business opportunities where appropriate with existing and new clients. Assist the Group Leader with identifying and implementing your personal training/CPD requirements. Participate in Site Works as required. Develop and maintain good relations with the various industry networks, clients, government agencies, sub-consultants, and construction contractors relevant to the MEP team's activities. Assist and co-ordinate design activities, processes and other technical standards within the MEP and CSA services. Undertake technical reviews of the project at appropriate stages to ensure that the project approach and deliverables are achieved. Actively participate in broader Office/Corporate activities as assigned or appropriate. Perform other duties as directed. Preferred Qualifications
Mission Critical Design / Data Centre Design Experience is an added advantage.
Successful project management experience in the MEP sector is an added advantage.
Good working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
A minimum of 10 years in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
Demonstrated leadership skills, previous team coordination and project management experience.
Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
