The opportunityAre you ready to make your mark as part of the Environment and Planning Practice in our Melbourne office?As an Associate, you will apply good judgment and excellent analytical skills to your work. Highly organised and self-motivated, you'll be a team player with a strong professional presence and client focus. With experience in advising on environmental, planning, native title, heritage, and climate change law, you will be joining a market leading team with fantastic career progression opportunities. You will also have opportunities to work on high-profile matters that involve providing strategic advice on a diverse range of environmental and sustainability-related matters, and on renewable energy, power, mining, and infrastructure projects.At White & Case, we'll support you, give you responsibility and welcome you as an integral member of our diverse, international team from day one. We foster a collegial working environment where partners are friendly and accessible, and colleagues always supportive and open to questions.Key responsibilitiesWorking closely with partners and team members on a diverse range of client mandates, often in new or emerging fields such as offshore wind, pumped hydro and hydrogen projects.Drafting and reviewing legal documentation and advice.Conducting legal and technical research.Working directly with clients and their technical advisers and consultants.Drafting of basic filings addressed to courts and authorities, and support and project management in environmental panel and inquiry hearings.Due diligence – analysis of environmental reports, approvals, and planning systems, and drafting commercially-focused reports.Drafting legal memoranda on broad range of topics arising under environmental and planning law.Providing direct assistance to senior lawyers on matters arising during day-to-day provision of legal services to leading international and domestic corporate clients.Joining educational seminar and practice groups.The skills and attributes we are looking forAdmitted to practice in Australia with a PQE of 1-3 years.A desire to work collaboratively as part of a high-performing team to deliver innovative solutions and ensure the best result for the client.Possesses good commercial and business acumen.Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.Excellent communication, drafting and negotiation skills and attention to detail.Willingness to be proactive, resourceful, and taking the initiative.Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity, creative thinker.What We OfferAt White & Case, you can make a real difference, work on cutting-edge deals that make the headlines and help shape the world we live in.
