The Role
The Associate Director Skills Strategy and Reform leads a professional team to drive reform and develop policies that promote the effective and efficient operation of the State's VET system.
The Associate Director ensures that policy and program development is underpinned by quality research, evidence and consultation. The Associate Director plays a lead role in the framing of policy and program design, and works with internal and external stakeholders to mobilise the implementation of the National Skills Agreement.
Working with the Director Skills Strategy and Reform, the Associate Director will participate in a community of practice to drive innovation, reforms and development of capability.
To be successful in this role you will ideally have a strong track record in consultation and co-design processes for policy and program development for the reform and delivery of publicly funded services. Policy research and evaluation skills are highly valued and will help you to succeed in this role. You will provide operational and thought leadership for staff and help develop a community of practice within your team, the Department and across critical stakeholders to promote excellence and drive change.
The successful candidate will play a critical leadership role over the next 12-18 months in designing and mobilising projects under the National Skills Agreement (NSA). This includes identifying high impact initiatives and opportunities to deliver improved outcomes for learners and industry, annual reviews of the WA Skills Action Plan, and development of the outcomes framework. Among the NSA projects are clean energy, Closing the Gap, improved VET completions linked to job outcomes, and contributing to the National TAFE Network agenda.
