Associate Director of Policy, Research and Standards DevelopmentAustralian Nursing And Midwifery Accreditation Council – Canberra ACT
The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMAC) is a not-for-profit organisation that has been established since 2010 to undertake the accreditation of Nursing and Midwifery programs leading to registration as a nurse or midwife.
ANMAC is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of five member organisations and four non-member Directors.
ANMAC is appointed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board as the external accreditation entity for Nursing and Midwifery education under Australia's National Registration and Accreditation Scheme.
ANMAC also assesses the skills of nurses and midwives who want to migrate to Australia under the General Skilled Migration category.
ANMAC has been contracted to provide executive and secretariat support to the Australasian Osteopathic Accreditation Council (AOAC).
ANMAC also provides services to Health Education Services Australia (HESA), which provides services to the health education sector.
The Opportunity We are looking for a strategic and experienced Associate Director of Policy, Research, and Standards Development to join our Accreditation Services team.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of nursing and midwifery education standards and drive policy research initiatives that shape the future of healthcare in Australia.
As an Associate Director, you'll play a key role in developing and refining accreditation standards, leading evidence-based policy projects, and building collaborative relationships with a wide array of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Support in Policy and Standards DevelopmentCollaborate in creating, reviewing, and refining accreditation standards, ensuring they are current, evidence-based, and aligned with ANMAC's goals and sectoral best practices.Contribute to the drafting of discussion papers, position statements, and policy responses, reinforcing ANMAC's thought leadership on accreditation and skilled migration.Research Coordination and Evidence SynthesisLead specific research projects that inform policy development and standards evaluation, synthesising data to support strategic decisions.Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and data analysis to ensure that ANMAC's standards and policies reflect the latest healthcare, nursing, and midwifery research.Facilitate the consolidation of research findings into resources for ANMAC's information hub, offering valuable insights for stakeholders.Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship BuildingCoordinate appropriate stakeholder engagement activities, including forums, workshops, and consultations with educational institutions, regulatory bodies, professional organisations, and industry experts to gather input on standards and policies.Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to ensure standards are relevant, practical, and accepted across the nursing and midwifery community.Represent ANMAC at various events, advocating for its standards and policies and fostering alignment within the sector.Leadership and Team SupportSupport the Director in leading a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.Provide mentorship to team members, promoting professional development in research, policy analysis, and standards development.Actively contribute to the team's strategic objectives, ensuring alignment with ANMAC's values of integrity, excellence, collaboration, respect, and innovation.Project Management and Quality AssuranceManage assigned projects in policy and standards development, overseeing timelines, resource allocation, and quality control to ensure timely and effective delivery.Implement quality assurance protocols within projects to maintain consistency, accuracy, and reliability of policy outputs and standards.Regularly update the Director on project progress, challenges, and key insights, contributing to strategic discussions and decisions.Compliance and Regulatory AlignmentAssist in ensuring that all accreditation standards comply with relevant national and international regulations, updating standards as required to reflect legal requirements.Conduct periodic compliance checks and quality audits to maintain regulatory alignment and integrity across standards and policies.Contribution to Organizational Strategy and ImprovementAssist in executing strategic plans for policy and standards, adapting to industry trends and changes in regulatory requirements.Contribute to the ongoing development of ANMAC's information hub, providing valuable resources to support accreditation and policy stakeholders.Actively uphold and promote ANMAC's values through policy and standards development activities, reinforcing a culture of quality, respect, and continuous improvement.What We're Looking For Qualifications: A postgraduate degree in nursing, midwifery, healthcare, public policy, or a related field.Experience: At least 4 years in policy development, accreditation, research, or regulation, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or strategic role.Skills: Demonstrated expertise in policy and standards development, strong research and data analysis abilities, and experience managing projects in a regulatory or healthcare-focused environment.Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate complex information, build relationships with stakeholders, and foster collaboration.Strategic and Innovative Thinking: Forward-thinking approach with a focus on enhancing accreditation and quality assurance processes.Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Builds strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.Accountability and Integrity: Maintains transparency and ethical standards in all decision-making.Adaptability and Change Management: Thrives in a dynamic environment, capably managing regulatory shifts and process changes.Attention to Detail: Delivers high-quality, consistent outcomes in policy and standards development.What we Offer ANMAC offers an attractive package designed to provide you with the necessary resources and support to achieve your professional goals while maintaining a healthy work-life balance that comprises:
