The Associate Director, Internal Audit and Assurance will assist the Internal Audit team to design and deliver quality performance audits within defined time-frames and budget, culminating in published reports providing independent assurance to ensure delivery of an integrated and effective service, and reports to the Chief Audit & Risk Executive.
In this role, you will deliver on the core internal audit activities in the Internal Audit Plan while ensuring effective management of the internal audit function.
The successful incumbent will manage and conduct complex and sensitive compliance, performance/operational audits; enhance fraud and corruption prevention strategies, special projects and investigations.
The position will also ensure provision of independent and objective advice and information on control in order to contribute to the effective operation of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

What you will bring to the role: Relevant tertiary qualifications (degree level), with membership to a relevant professional body.
(e.g CIA, CA, CFE) Extensive and demonstrated experience in managing a multitude of complex financial, compliance, operational audits and investigations in a large and diverse service industry organisation within deadlines and budget. Demonstrated experience in planning, leading and managing complex risk based internal audits against the International Professional Practices Framework that deliver value to the organisation through efficiency improvements and cost saving opportunities. Demonstrated experience in leading and conducting complex investigations, complying with contemporary practices within relevant legislation, standards and policy. Demonstrated ability to address complex organisational issues using high level analytical skills to critically appraise and problem-solve financial, compliance, operational and governance issues including the ability to identify cost saving and efficacy improvement. Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication, consultation and negotiation skills with ability to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to deliver internal control, fraud and corruption, governance and risk management training and awareness to staff across the Local Health district. Current Drivers Licence and ability to travel within the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.
