Associate Director Inclusive and Diverse LearningSt Joseph's offers an inclusive and non-discriminating learning community to young people, who for a variety of reasons, make the choice to attend a specialised learning environment. St Joseph's operates across multiple campuses, located in North Melbourne, Geelong, Colac, Ballarat, and a dual engagement virtual learning campus, BlendED. The young people who attend have typically experienced one or more significant and complex educational, social, developmental, psychological, health, legal or familial situations which demand unique responses. Such interventions are embedded within the Operation By Principles framework, which combine education with an understanding of trauma-informed practice.We are seeking an excellent leader who will oversee the Inclusive and Diverse Learning Unit within the Saints Knowledge Institute (SKI), which comprises three sub-portfolios:Research and Knowledge Translation; including NCCD, Disability standards for Education.Professional learning/coaching in Disability, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Learning; expertise, insights and advice to facilitate and support an equitable learning environment for young people.Policy and Advocacy; leading Education Disability Inclusion Action.This role will initially be focused on supporting the implementation of these activities by contributing their leadership as a subject matter expert and experienced practitioner in the broad area of equity and disability service delivery. This work will also involve supporting the Line Manager to refine the operating model of a new Institute Model and design and construct the Inclusive and Diverse Learning Unit that will be launched in early 2025 (subject to VRQA Approval).This new role will be a key leader, responsible for enabling the design, development, and delivery of equitable and accessible flexible education for young people, with significant scope to contribute to the development of new ways of working and new student experiences that are enhanced through an uplift in technology and resourcing. A knowledgeable leader in the field, the incumbent will be well versed in the external regulatory environment and best practice in the sector to ensure the new Institute is at the forefront of knowledge creation and innovation in the flexible learning landscape for young people.This role is a full-time 1.0FTE ongoing position, based at our Carlton office, working both in the office and from home, with travel to school sites. Salary will be in the band of Senior Manager between $155,000 to $170,000 per annum, plus superannuation.You will need:Ability to commit to and work within our Operating Principles; Respect, Participation, Safe and Legal and Honesty.A higher degree by research at PhD level, in a relevant discipline, that affords a comprehensive understanding of inclusive research methodologies, research ethics, and funding processes, particularly in the context of the Australian disability policy landscape.Proven ability to strategically influence policy and practice through research aligned with the SKI research agenda, including knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks related to inclusive education.Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate multiple activities, and provide project management oversight, including work planning, scheduling, and reporting.Track record of developing innovative solutions to complex problems in service and practice change management environments, with experience in co-designing and implementing initiatives or major projects with diverse stakeholders.Strong collaboration, relationship-building, and facilitation skills, with a focus on inclusive and engaging approaches, as well as managing complex stakeholder relationships to achieve effective outcomes.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce engaging materials and reports for diverse audiences, and synthesise data and evidence for the preparation of reports and presentations.Ability to work autonomously within an inclusive team, demonstrating initiative, flexibility, and creativity, while upholding a human rights-based approach and the principles of SKI.Demonstrated experience in leading transformational change, including the design, delivery, and evaluation of services, ideally in a flexible learning environment, as well as leadership and advocacy in inclusive education.Proven ability in knowledge translation, including synthesising research and producing accessible materials for various audiences, such as people with disabilities, organisations, government, and the community.Previous experience in the education sector is highly desirable.Ability to obtain and maintain a Victorian Working with Children Check and provide a National Police Check certificate (issued within the last six months).Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People are encouraged to apply; we are an Equal Opportunity Employer and value diversity.To Apply:Please visit our website, learn about our work, and review the position information in Employment Opportunities at www.stjosephs.vic.edu.au/careers.Applications must be submitted using the Apply Now function on our careers page and must include:A cover letter which outlines your suitability for the roleA statement which addresses the skills and competencies outlined in the position description (no more than 2 pages)A current curriculum vitae outlining previous experience and skills;Two referees (including contact details).
