About the Role
This role will manage the DTP Incident Response Service teams, operating out of the DTP Port Melbourne depot and servicing freeways and arterial roads in metropolitan Melbourne 24/7. This role will work closely with the Transport Operations Centre, private road operators, emergency services, and on-road public transport operators to support safe and coordinated responses to on-road incidents that minimise disruption to road users.
The role will exercise leadership and continue implementation and maturity of the Incident Response Service's operational safety framework, providing subject matter expertise and direct oversight of operations to ensure operating practices that prioritise staff, responder, and community safety. This leader will promote a culture of inclusion and continue to foster a collaborative and supportive workplace for all staff members, while ensuring operational consistency to maintain a high level of service. This role will deliver on a roadmap for future operations, collaborating with other operational teams to consider service performance, road network performance, and best practice for service delivery.
Position Outcomes
The Associate Director of Incident Response Services ensures the safe and effective delivery of incident response services across metropolitan Melbourne and, when necessary, in regional areas. This role requires providing operational expertise, leading an on-road team, and engaging effectively with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include strong leadership to maintain high team cohesion and engagement, meeting Incident Response Service objectives and KPIs. The role also involves managing relationships with DTP, private road operators, emergency services, and contractors to coordinate incident response efforts.
Collaboratively working with the Road Assurance and Network Safety teams ensures compliance with safety processes and policies according to legislative and regulatory standards. The Associate Director champions a robust safety culture, driving accountability and influencing employee behaviors while managing Designated Workgroups (DWGs) effectively.
Resource management is also crucial, adhering to departmental policies, budget constraints, and developing workforce plans that optimize resource utilization for incident response.
