About the RoleThe Associate Director Assets will adopt a risk-based strategic approach to lead the management of the department's tram assets, including new tram infrastructure projects, the delivery of asset maintenance and renewal programs, and asset reform areas contained in the MR5 tram contract.It will oversee all obligations relating to the department's tram assets including the assurance and performance management of rolling stock, infrastructure, the Operational Control and Management System (OCMS) and the coordination and documentation of contract management plans and frameworks.It will provide leadership across key program delivery areas for tram assets including quality control, assurance and governance, whilst ensuring tram asset performance plans and frameworks align with DTP's Strategic Asset Management Strategy.The role involves understanding, measuring and reporting on the asset performance of the metropolitan tram network and will also provide oversight for the financial assurance and analysis of tram assets and project budgets - including the management of ESCROW accounts and future financial bids.Position OutcomesThe Associate Director, Assets is responsible for managing high-value, complex rail or technology projects within a robust Project Management Framework. This role includes leading asset management efforts, demonstrating expertise in asset condition assessments, and life cycle management, particularly for tram assets. The position involves developing, reviewing, and enhancing tram asset information to optimise management strategies and renewal projects.Key responsibilities also include overseeing operator compliance with maintenance, renewal, and asset obligations, including the management of escrow accounts.High-quality, authoritative advice is provided to the Executive Director, Metro Tram and the leadership team, aiding in transport portfolio objectives and addressing complex issues. This role contributes to continuous improvement, ensuring all changes to the work program comply with governance standards and operator agreements.Additionally, effective stakeholder management is crucial, requiring collaboration, negotiation, and influence at executive levels. Leadership is a significant aspect of the role, necessitating the ability to lead and support in a dynamic environment, ensuring team engagement and effective delivery of services.Qualifications and Role Specific RequirementsMandatoryExperience in the oversight and management of asset management and complex commercial contracts (for example, 7+ years of contract management experience).A strong understanding of the principles of asset management and assurance.Experience in working with senior leaders internally and externally.Proficient user of the Microsoft suite of products.Desirable Tertiary qualification in engineering, business or similar.An understanding of the public transport environment would be highly advantageous.How to ApplyClick the 'Apply' button and follow the prompts.
