Lead a team who provide support and improve outcomes for First Nations students at Charles Darwin University (CDU) About the Position
As the Associate Director First Nations Students & Engagement, you will supervise and support the First Nations Student Support and Program staff to deliver academic and pastoral services, projects, funding programs and workshops and events aligned to the aspirational goals for First Nations student retention and success as aligned with the CDU Strategic Plan.
You will take lead responsibility for the administration and management of the University's approach to improve TAFE and HE outcomes for First Nations students including development, implementation, maintenance and review of First Nations Student services and centres, core business and priorities with a focus on innovative approaches to continuous improvement.
About You
To be successful, you will require:
Identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of First Nations peoples and ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with diverse First Nations peoples and communities.Hold or progress towards completion of a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field, eg.
Business, Indigenous knowledges, Social Sciences or Education and extensive relevant management experience.Superior interpersonal and leadership skills and proven experience in complex people management including recruitment, retention, and performance management and the ability to foster a spirit of collaboration to identify and achieve shared goals and values.Strategic thinking skills and demonstrated ability to lead the implementation of policies and programs with tertiary education outcome imperatives, including high level risk management.Superior written skills, including the ability to produce complex briefing papers, procedures, and reports in accordance with University and Government compliance measures.High level understanding of government funding schemes and contract management with a well-developed sense of financial accountability and budgeting issues and how they affect strategy, institutional plans and stakeholders.Charles Darwin University considers that being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent is a genuine criterion for this role under relevant Anti-discrimination legislation. Appointment to this role will be at Professional Level 10.
The base salary will be in the range of $128,903 to $143,061 per annum.
The total remuneration package will be in the range of $150,816 to $167,381 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
