About the role We are currently seeking an Associate-Design to join our highly engaged team of urban development professionals.
This role will suit a dynamic and passionate individual looking to take the next step in their professional career.
This is a mid-level role within the team.
Our ideal candidate for this role will have urban design experience working within the private or public sector.
They will have an outcomes-oriented attitude, excellent client liaison skills, be a team player, and have a passion for working in a high performing organisation.
Key Responsibilities As an Associate-Design, you will: Have a developed industry profile, network of clients, and substantial industry experience with extensive knowledge of contemporary urban development issues.
Lead moderate to large scale projects as a Project Manager and be able to provide oversight of multiple projects while developing the skills of others.
Invest in long term relationships with clients, are concerned with improving the overall client experience and generate repeat business.
With guidance, you will learn to initiate new opportunities in the market.
Work collaboratively across a wide range of projects and services within the organisation's diversified portfolios as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
Liaise regularly with clients and understand their needs, deliver high-quality work by applying on-the-job knowledge and skills, and manage small to large projects.
Further develop your consultancy and project management capabilities and enhance your ability to work with relevant policy and legislation, as well as understand and address contemporary issues within the urban development industry.
Further develop a broader skillset through working side by side with planners, economists, social planners, project managers and community & stakeholder engagement professionals.
We are looking for an experienced Associate - Design who has: A Tertiary qualification in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or related degree/discipline.
5 to 8+ years of experience within a professional services firm or state/local government.
Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with a flexible and positive attitude to working on a range of different projects concurrently.
Sound working knowledge of the NSW planning framework.
Well-versed communication skills, and the ability to build rapport with clients and other project team members.
Excellent writing skills, who can draft efficiently, write accurate and comprehensive reports and prepare external correspondence.
Structure and 'style' simple proposals (using letter and submission templates) that reflect bid requirements and are complete Determine suite of drawings required for urban design report, and prepare them and / or brief junior staff accordingly Demonstrate how project objectives, vision, design principles, design strategies and design concept cascade through the process to make a seamless holistic 'story' that underpins the design Prepare graphic material that communicates effectively, whether supporting analysis, comparing options, describing concepts, or illustrating design recommendations / solutions.
Produce and update two-dimensional [hand or computer] drawings: plans, sections, and diagrams, that clearly communicate analysis, options development, concepts and urban design recommendations Knowing when to seek input from other disciplines, notably planners to test and develop design options for a site A professional commitment to striving for excellence.
