We now have an exciting opportunity for an articulate, motivated, and reliable Associate Aquatic Ecologist to join the Aquatic Environmental Services team, based at the SLR Cleveland office in Queensland.
About you You will have relevant experience in assessment and management of ecological matters in consulting, government, or industry. To be considered for the role, you will have demonstrated experience in developing a client base and professional network relevant to your role. You will enjoy collaborating on projects and initiatives with the national team and other teams within our multi-disciplinary business.
Key Responsibilities Contribute your technical leadership skills in aquatic environmental services and be recognised for your specialist knowledge. Excellent data analysis skills using multivariate techniques, and proven ability to prepare reports to public review standard. Laboratory experience sorting, enumeration, identification, sample preparation etc. Ability to lead and contribute to projects across freshwater and marine environments, in order to achieve timely and high-quality outcomes. Experienced in project management including budgeting, invoice drafting, and client liaison. Demonstrated experience preparing aquatic impact assessments and having knowledge of appropriate legislation. Ability to undertake aquatic/water quality fieldwork in remote areas. Co-manage the maintenance, repair and storage of field gear. Skills and Qualifications Relevant bachelor's degree in Zoology, Marine science, or related field. 6+ years' post graduate experience as either an aquatic ecologist, biologist, or water quality specialist – with knowledge of scientific data collection in aquatic ecosystems. Drivers Licence (manual) is essential. QLD Boat licence or ability to obtain one. Basic GIS knowledge. An enthusiastic and dedicated approach.
