Job Purpose The successful candidate will be appointed permanently in the Department as an Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer and will be appointed as a Rotational HOD in line with the rotational HOD guidelines for a 5-year period. At the expiry of the 5-years rotational HOD appointment, the incumbent will revert back to the level at which the appointment was made on a permanent basis – Associate Professorial/Senior Lecturer level, whichever level is relevant.
The Head of Department must take a leadership role within the Teacher Professional Development (TPD) department for managing, leading and providing direction to a team of academic and support staff.Management of the department as a member of the Faculty Executive.Ensure that the Department and Faculty strategic goals are realized in line with the institutional strategic goals.The incumbent will oversee the development of the new qualifications in the department.The successful candidate must teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and must be actively involved in research and post graduate supervision.
