Assistant Store Manager - Aboriginal Community Store Arlparra Aboriginal Corporation – Alice Springs NT
The Arlparra Aboriginal Corporation is seeking an Assistant Store Manager on a full-time basis. The Store operates as a general store, ATM, takeaway, fresh food, and fuel.
Arlparra Store is located in the township of Arlparra just off the Sandover Highway about 280 km from Alice Springs, which is the nearest major centre. The store services between 600-1000 community members. Arlparra is mainly made up of Alyawarr people who speak English as a second language.
Arlparra and surrounding homelands are dry communities (no alcohol permitted) which is strictly enforced. There is a school, Corporation office, art centre, and police station.
Employment opportunities may be available for partners with general retail/warehousing experience. Joint applications welcomed.

6 weeks annual leave + 17.5% leave loading per annum Relocation assistance including airfares Fully furnished accommodation including utilities (water, electricity, telephone, and internet) Duties Reporting to the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager is responsible for:
Delivery of food security Provision of key services to the community Effectively operating the store for long-term profitability and viability Store staffing Customer service and community engagement Compliance with Federal and Northern Territory laws and regulations Experience and qualifications Prior retail/customer service experience at a management level Awareness of and respect for Aboriginal culture and history and/or the willingness to engage and learn Excellent communication skills, the ability to communicate sensitively in a cross-cultural environment, and willingness to take cultural advice from community representatives Strong people management skills, in particular the ability to coordinate the work of a diverse range of employees Good problem-solving and decision-making skills Strong relationship building Excellent health and fitness that matches the practical requirements of the role Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the challenges of working and living in a remote area, where flexibility and regular travel is required Manual driver's license is mandatory Forklift ticket is preferred Warehousing/stock control experience preferred Previous experience working in remote or regional settings highly regarded Previous knowledge and/or experience of working with Aboriginal communities, organisations, and groups highly regarded Personal attributes and values Respectful Resilient Strong time management and organisational skills Capable of dealing with isolation and remoteness Willing to undertake learning pathway for professional development All applications will be treated confidentially and only those with the rights to work full time in Australia will be considered.
