The key duties of the position include: The Department is seeking to fill the role of Assistant Secretary Strategy. This role is responsible for providing Portfolio strategic policy advice, while also ensuring the Portfolio's efforts are coordinated and aligned in delivering against Departmental objectives and Government priorities.
Assistant Secretary Strategy utilises their astute situational awareness to work across a series of cross-cutting thematics and advance the Department's approach to new and emerging threats. They devise the Portfolio's capacity for horizon scanning to understand threats and opportunities against key strategic priorities. They lead development of whole-of-Portfolio policy advice on key national, Ministerial or Portfolio issues, ensuring we are responsive to changes in the strategic environment.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate with demonstrated experience in policy and strategy and with the proven ability to build and lead a high performance culture, the ability to positively lead through change and the agility to adapt in a complex and diverse operating environment. We are seeking an adept problem solver, who can forge strong and mutually beneficial relationships across all levels and domains.
Eligibility be an Australian Citizen; obtain and maintain a security clearance at a minimum of Negative Vetting 2; obtain and maintain Department based clearances. Notes This role is currently based in Canberra ACT, other locations may be considered by exception.
