The Key Duties of the Position Include:Work with leaders in the department to develop and implement our People Strategy and Strategic Workforce Plan actions.Continually review and deliver high-quality, customer-centred and effective people practices to support the achievement of organisational strategic outcomes.Work collaboratively in partnership with the People and Communication & Media Branches, and other corporate peers to implement key initiatives, events and strategies.Provide complex advice and guidance on our strategic workforce plans.Build and maintain effective relationships with our Executive, SES, Diversity Champions, Employee Diversity Networks, and other key internal and external stakeholders.Shape the agenda and oversee secretariat support for the People, Culture and Engagement Committee to seek strategic input into priority workforce initiatives.Chair the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee, facilitating diverse perspectives from our people into priority workforce initiatives.Oversee the analysis of our Census results and development of our department's Census Action Plan.Leverage people's strengths and coach your team to support their career development and the development of the Human Resources Profession in the APS.Operate within budget, identifying savings/efficiencies where appropriate and possible.You will be a member of the department's senior executive and will work closely with our policy and program areas to advise and support their work and inform the Australian community about our diverse range of programs and initiatives.
To Be Successful in This Position, You Will Have the Following Skills and Experience:Demonstrated ability and commitment to shaping organisation culture and capability.Excellent communication and influencing skills.Demonstrated exceptional leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities, with a strong foundation in strategic HR.Resilience, with great personal drive, the ability to adapt to a changing environment, and a track record of delivering effective outcomes to time and budget.Relevant tertiary qualifications in human resources management or a related discipline are desirable but not essential.The successful candidate will exemplify the characteristics set out in the SES Band 1 Integrated Leadership System, the APS Leadership Capability Framework and the Secretaries Charter of Leadership Behaviours.
Please note, under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency delegate has agreed, in writing. These are designated security assessed positions. The successful candidate will have the ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance.
