The emphases of the position are to deliver and undertake teaching and research within the areas of digital journalism, new media, and news and feature writing. Additional experience related to any of the areas listed below would be favoured:
Podcasting and Audio Narratives; Video Journalism; World News Reporting; Creative Writing; Data-Driven Journalism; Creative Non-fiction; Digital and Social Media; Communication and Media Theory; Technology in Communication. About the person The successful applicant will hold a PhD in a cognate field, be an excellent teacher and have extensive relevant industry and research/scholarship experience commensurate with the different levels of appointment. An appointment at the Associate Professor B level will require evidence of substantial and sustained research outputs, be able to evidence significant industry recognition e.g. a recipient of industry awards and nominations, and preferably success in attracting external funding to support an identified research program.

The successful candidate at all levels of appointment will be expected to demonstrate extensive experience of modern approaches to active, engaged, and authentic teaching and assessment. An appointment at an Associate Professor B level will require evidence of making a significant original and innovative contribution to learning and teaching.
As a senior member of academic staff, the successful applicant will be responsible for contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and service in the Faculty and University. The successful applicant will also engage in professional and industry liaison, seek grant opportunities, and provide student support within the Faculty.
Salary details The salary for this position is outlined below and will be negotiated commensurate with skills, qualifications, and experience. Salary packaging options are available. The level of appointment will be determined by the Selection Panel.
Associate Professor B remuneration commences at $162,466.69 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation.
Assistant Professor A remuneration commences at $154,787.26 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation.
Assistant Professor B remuneration commences at $130,234.21 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation.
