Reporting to the Production Manager, we are seeking an experienced Assistant Production Manager. The role will be responsible for managing and leading the production team, supervisors, and team members to achieve all safety, quality, and production targets in accordance with manufacturing standards on a sustainable and improving basis in accordance with agreed company targets.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Providing leadership to their team by guiding, coaching and mentoring supervisors and leading hands. Develop and implement appropriate shift and manning structures to maintain efficient production throughputs/quality/safety to meet customer and business requirements. Responsible for production schedules, manufacture and timely dispatch of all products and services to specification. Ensure appropriate and effective labour planning & rostering. Ensure that performance meets all targets for Operational Key Performance Indicators, including but not limited to Product Yields, Material variances and Labour Costs. Oversee the Production planning process, from Customer order receipt, Raw Material procurement, WIP management to Finished Product Despatch. Maintain accountability for all Production and Inventory management activities. Responsible for Production targets and KPIs. Daily, weekly planning and reporting to Production Manager. Supervise employees according to the production schedule, report any significant deviation from plan with a supporting reason to the Site Management. Lead in monitoring, reviewing, identifying and implementing processes to drive continuous improvement activities through the execution of best practice. Work with other departments including Engineering & Maintenance, Quality to meet common goals across OEE, schedule adherence, waste and DIFOT. Partner with the Site Leadership team to drive best practice and deliver the strategic intents of the business. Collaborate with peers within the business and across the group to leverage improved work practices. Identify training needs and ensure programs/tools are coordinated to support the development of competency within the team. Deliver training programs that demonstrate compliance to business processes. Partner with the HR Team to monitor the implementation adherence to, all legal, statutory and WHS policies, systems, and practices. To be successful in this position you must possess the following: Relevant experience in a similar role for at least 5 years is essential but not mandatory. Significant leadership experience within a fast-paced, diverse and high-pressure food manufacturing environment. Proven ability to coach and develop managers and supervisors. Strong systems and process background, and proven ability to lead change in these areas. Sound experience in budget control and cost management. Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to influence, engage, negotiate, coach effectively with all stakeholders.
