Position Information
Yates Avenue Public School is located on Darug land in Dundas Valley and has an enrolment of 180 students, including 58% from non-English speaking backgrounds and 5% of students who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. The school has a clear vision for evidence-based practices which cater for the diverse learning needs of all students in mainstream K-6 classes, the support unit, preschool and early intervention.
Our model of teaching is explicit instruction, using daily reviews and the 'I Do, We Do, You Do' protocol, with practices aligned with research from the Science of Learning. Learning and wellbeing is underpinned by a Response to Intervention model aimed at early identification and support of students' academic and wellbeing needs. There is a school-wide focus on building strong universal teaching practices, informed by ongoing assessment and data analysis.
The school has a dedicated staff who are supported by a strong, collegial approach to continuous improvement using instructional coaching to support professional growth. The parent community is actively engaged with the school's vision and has high expectations for their children's learning and development. P & C initiatives are inclusive and play an important role in strengthening partnerships between the school and community.
Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary, and:

Ability to lead improvement in literacy and numeracy through the implementation of the Yates instructional model for teaching and learning.
Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all key stakeholders to create a positive and inclusive school culture.
Proven capacity to balance outstanding classroom practice with the responsibilities of leadership.

General Selection Criteria

Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.

Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
