Peakhurst West Public School with an enrolment of 285 students, aims to provide excellent educational opportunities for all Primary students (K-6) in a caring environment. The school offers a balanced and varied curriculum and takes pride in its achievements across all Key Learning Areas. There is a focus on equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in an everchanging world. Student wellbeing and the provision of a supportive learning environment remain the focus for staff and the parent community. Peakhurst West Public School comprises students from a diverse range of cultural and social backgrounds, 64% of students are from a non–English speaking background. The school provides strong foundations for all students with an emphasis on excellence in literacy and numeracy, effective learning and support strategies and quality extra-curricular opportunities. In 2025 Peakhurst West Public School will establish a support unit with three classes.

Selection Criteria In addition to the general selection criteria,
Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching, skills and knowledge to teach students with complex needs, including Autism, intellectual disabilities, sensory needs in a multistage K-6 setting. Demonstrated leadership capacity to work as a dynamic member of a school leadership team to strategically plan, lead and monitor initiatives that address the Peakhurst West Public School strategic directions. Evidence of a highly visible, approachable, and collaborative leader with a capacity to build and maintain positive inclusive trusting relationships and partnerships with students, families, staff, internal and external agencies and the wider community. Proven ability to lead and develop evidence-based and evaluative practices to implement high quality differentiated curriculum, including the development and implementation of student personalised learning plans, behaviour support plans and transition plans that impact positively on student engagement. General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
