Assistant Principal Special Education General - Calare Public School Calare is an innovative primary school situated in the centre of Orange, with a current student population of 575, comprising of 14% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 6% students with backgrounds other than English. The school offers high quality, differentiated education programs delivered through highly skilled and knowledgeable staff, in a supportive and nurturing learning environment.
The school has a comprehensive and dynamic curriculum including an enrichment class, an MC and Autism class and a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden. The school is proud of its long history of outstanding results in Creative and Performing Arts, Band, Choir and Sport as well as prioritising student engagement and wellbeing through a diverse range of wellbeing strategies.

Position InformationIn addition to the general selection criteria,
Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with additional needs. Experience delivering tailored learning programs for students K-6, catering for different abilities and learning styles. Demonstrated ability to lead wellbeing programs in the areas of social skills, self-regulation and/or self-esteem. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work collaboratively and cohesively with staff, students, parents and outside agencies.
General Selection Criteria
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
ConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
